Odin is a story about getting in too deep. Adela is a journalist who goes undercover with a white supremacist organization that’s going on basically a retreat into the Arctic to summon Odin. Issue #1 ends with them all taking drugs and coming to after appearing to kill and eat one of their fellow racists. Whoops.

Fred, with his red-lensed sunglasses, is more and more being revealed as a menacing presence as the leader of this group of assholes. It could be argued that no one is sympathetic in the cast of characters here. Maybe Adela is sympathetic. Maybe Robert, who I’ll get to in a moment, is. That’s it.

It’s hard to make any of these people sympathetic. Robert – who is actually Roberto Pascual Suarez y Martin – passes as white, gets a swastika branded on his chest, and embraces the white supremacist movement – is the closest we get to a sympathetic figure among the apparent true believers. He gets gangrene and has his skin peeled off his feet when his boots are removed. He mutilates himself further to try to fit in.

The art is great. It effectively presents the horror aspect of the story in this winter nightmare climate with hints of a supernatural aspect, and it helps increasing the tension throughout the story.

The pressure is building in this story. Is Adela what she says she is? Are any of them making it out of this alive? Should they?

Odin is one of the highlights of 2026 comics, and is a must read for anyone that loves the indie side of things.
