I went away for a week, and between that and just trying to stay up on work, I haven’t had much time to write. So here’s me trying to get all caught up on what I’ve read recently. I’m skipping listing creators dues to time.

Barbara Gordon: Breakout #4 – It’s never great when a story starts strong and loses its fastball as it goes on. 3 stars

Batwoman #6 – Intrigue’s building. I feel like there’s a lot of LORE that I’m missing, but I’m still enjoying it. 4 stars

Bishop #3 – Hey, another story that is struggling with maintaining my interest. This is on the verge of being dropped. 3 stars

Black Tower: The Raven Conspiracy #1 – I like the set up for this. Fast paced action, kind of like a supernatural Kingsman. 4 stars

Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #2 – Continues to be a great hybrid of body horror & mystery with a villainous lead. One of the better big 2 titles right now. 4.5 stars

Cult-de-Sac #1 – Decent set up. I’m hoping this picks up more down the way. 3.5 stars

Daredevil #5 – This is a great superhero story that I’m really enjoying. If you’re a fan of capes stories, you need to be reading this. 4.5 stars

Denver #1 – An interesting concept with good art but I don’t think this nailed the writing. There’s still potential here. 3.5 stars

Did You Hear About Mimi Green? #3 – I love this combo of body horror & psychological horror. One of my favorite stories right now. 5 stars

Dispatched #2 – Great Die Hard-esque story. 4.5 stars

D’Orc #7 – Indie breakout that deserves all its love. It’s still going very, very strong. 5 stars

End of Life #7 – This is just a fantastic series. Completely bonkers in the best way. 5 stars

Everyone Loves a Jewel Thief #4 – Heist books are great. Heist books where everything goes wrong are also great. 4.5 stars

The Flash #36 – Maybe my favorite superhero story right now. A great way to use The Flash, and bringing in Green Arrow as a semi-antagonist is going to be great. 5 stars

Gambit: Wanted #2 – Really solid stuff. 4 stars

Generation X-23 #6 – 4 stars

Generation X-23 #7 – I don’t know if this was not initially planned as an ongoing beyond the initial five issues, but this is transitioning into an ongoing really well. 4 stars

Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse #2 – They’re losing me with this one – the fun I thought this story would be is getting bogged down in a plot I’m not invested in. 3 stars

Hammerfist #1 – I loved the start of this – another heist gone wrong scenario, but with supernatural elements. 5 stars

Hank Howard, Pizza Detective: Fair Play #1 – I don’t think I could ever get tired of this bit. 4.5 stars

Hidden Springs #4 – A little sad to see this end, but it nailed the landing and didn’t come close to overstaying its welcome. There’s definitely something to be said for that. 4.5 stars

In Your Skin #4 – This apparently got pushback for not being clear in its ending, despite that being the point of the way it was written. I loved it. 5 stars

Killer Influences #2 – This continues building on a really clever concept. 4.5 stars

The Last Driver #1 – When the most interesting thing about this comic is that it’s printed in landscape… I will say the art is great. I rolled my eyes at the “what if driving is the only thing separating us from fascism” concept. 3 stars

Lazarus Order #1 – Interesting supernatural concept. 4 stars

Moonstar #5 – Solid enough character study arc. Wish it was more, but good enough. 3.5 stars

Narco #5 – Great ending to a great little story. 4.5 stars

Neighborhood Watch #4 – Maybe the most mature (as in written for adults, complimentary) story out there right now? 5 stars

Odin #3 – There’s still a hell of a lot going on in this. I’m wondering if this is one that in issue form is going to be really good and in trade form will be fantastic. 4 stars

Of the Earth #2 – 5 stars

Of the Earth #3 – 4.5 stars

Of the Earth #4 – I’m so glad I got caught up on this horror title. Fantastic at building tension. 5 stars

The Patron #1 – Great horror start. I love the structure of this issue in particular. Great art. 5 stars

Regicide #1 – Speaking of great art, hey, this book! It stands out from everything else I’m reading. I really want to see how this one plays out. 4.5 stars

The Ring: The Man Who Beat the Man #3 – Okay, this is what I was hoping for from this title. We got to the first art, which has great art of course, but what it really nails is the character arc of one of the fighters. 4 stars

What If…? X-Men #1 – Solid, I guess, but I’ve been underwhelmed by most of these recent What If…? tries. 3 stars

What If…? Runaways #1 – More like What If… Nothing Happened, And Also Beloved Characters Don’t Really Get An Opportunity to Shine?, amirite? 2.5 stars
